Ghana, an African nation is all set to join the BPO bandwagon. For this purpose the country now doing extensive market research with the help of Avasant, a US based BPO advisory company. Several other African nations such as Egypt, Kenya and South Africa have already made their debut in this field.

The Republic of Ghana is a West African nation located on the Gulf of Guinea. The country got its independence in the year 1957 thereby becoming the first Sub Saharan African nation to gain independence from Great Britain. The country is also the member of several international organizations such as Economic Community of West African States, United Nations, Commonwealth of Nations and the African Union.
Current Economic Scenario of Ghana
The country has vast number of natural resources and is world's largest producer of gold. Apart from gold Ghana is also well endowed with various other natural resources such as diamond, bauxite, manganese, etc. It is also the world's largest producer of gold. The country is heavily depended on agriculture. However, country largely depends on international assistance for setting up industries. To help the country getting away from the evil clutches of poverty and unemployment, the government of Ghana has decided to introduce BPO in the country as the country has large number of skilled labor.
BPO opportunity in Ghana
Several other African nations like Kenya, Egypt and South Africa have become a part of the global BPO industry. Ghana too has decided to enter in this field. The Ministry of Communications in Ghana entered into a two year agreement with Avasant, a well known US based BPO advisory company. This firm has been entrusted with the task of helping Ghana to become the new age offshore outsourcing destination. As per the agreement, Avasant will be preparing a promotional tool, which is to be used for marketing the true potential of Ghana in the field of offshore process outsourcing.
Mr. Alhassan Umar is the Secretariat of Ghana's Information Technology Enabled Services (ITES). He wanted to establish e-governance and electronic voting in his country. The Secretariat has even disclosed that BPO would be contributing millions of dollars to the country's economy. He anticipated that it would help Ghana to become fastest developing nation in the world. An interesting thing about Ghana is that the official language of this country is English. This means that the people of Ghana won't be facing any problem dealing with US or UK based service buyers.
Certain percentage of Ghana's population is also capable of speaking French, which means that the country has the capability to attract various types of French BPO jobs as well. This also means that this African country is going to offer multilingual outsourcing services to its clients. African countries are always known for their cost effectiveness. They can deliver spectacular result at a lowest cost. Egypt, Kenya and South Africa have displayed excellent performances. Therefore Ghana is confident to perform better in this field.
